Unplug in Comfort at Kishauwau Cabins

There are times when you just want to get off the grid and leave the daily grind behind.

Kishauwau Cabins, in Tonica, Ill., is the perfect environment to get away to the great outdoors and savor a peaceful setting. These 17 beautifully constructed cabins vary in size and are spread throughout a 65-acre wooded property.

The views are unrivaled from this bluff above the Vermillion River, in a spot that’s roughly 100 miles from Chicago, with close proximity to Starved Rock State Park and the busy city of Ottawa.

“We like to say we are the perfect place for an unplugged vacation and a social distancing getaway,” says Terisa King, co-owner of Kishauwau Cabins with her husband Jamie. “We are so pleased that we have guests who return year after year, whether for a romantic escape, family reunion, or even a corporate teambuilding retreat. Furry friends are welcome, too, in our dog-friendly cabins.”

Whether or not you’re an active outdoors fan, the cabins exude quaintness and country charm with the modern conveniences of home. Each cabin is equipped with central air and furnace heating, enabling them to stay comfortable year-round. Fully equipped kitchens include basic pots and pans, cooking utensils and dishes.

Since you’re out in the country, why not enjoy an evening in front of your private, outdoor bonfire pit and picnic table, then grill up your favorite foods and roast a few s’mores by the fire?

There’s always something new for guests at Kishauwau Cabins, and this May 20-23, visitors are treated to a Campfire Concert featuring popular country artist John King. Guests staying for these three days will have access to a community country-style picnic dinner, concert access, bonfire and s’mores. That’s just the opening act to a summer of fun.

“We also have a great time during the Fourth of July, too,” says King. “Guests can enjoy live music and grand fireworks for the celebration.” ❚
